Code of Ethics

The scientific journal «Afriche e Orienti» – open access with double blind peer review process –  adopts the following Code of Ethics, with reference to the Guidelines of the European Association of Science Editors (EASE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

The Code requires all parties involved – editors and editorial stall, authors, reviewers – to be aware of the ethical principles stated in the Code.

Duties of Editors, Editorial Board and Editorial Team

Decision on publication

The Editors are responsible for deciding whether or not to publish the articles proposed to «Afriche e Orienti» and benefit from consultation with the reviewers for this decision.

Correctness

The decision is made on the basis of the scientific value, relevance and originality of the content, as well as full compliance with the editorial rules of the journal, without discrimination of gender, religion, ethnic origin, citizenship, sexual orientation, political orientation of the Authors.

Confidentiality, conflict of interest and prohibition of use or disclosure

The Editors, the Editorial Committee and the Editorial Staff undertake not to disclose information about the articles submitted to «Afriche e Orienti» to people other than the author, reviewers and publishers or printers, and not to use the data of their own research, without the express written consent of the Author.

The Editors assign the article anonymously to two referees, experts in the field and external to the Editors themselves, the Editorial Committee and the Editorial Staff. The article is submitted for an adequate evaluation for publication in the journal.

Authors Duties

Scientific originality

Authors are required to compose a scientifically original work in all its parts and to adequately quote the texts used following the editorial rules indicated for publication in «Afriche e Orienti».

Contributions that have been published or are in the process of being published in other periodicals or volumes must not be proposed, except with the express consent of the Editors. If the article will be published later in other periodicals or volumes, the Editors must be informed and express reference must be made to the previous publication in «Afriche e Orienti», also referring to the clickable and active DOI of the article.

Integration of the work

The Editors may ask the Authors for corrections and additions considered appropriate, also following the anonymous evaluation of the referees. The Editors may also bring the aforementioned anonymous judgment to the attention of the Author. The Authors can express their observations or objections in this regard, on which the Editors will decide.

The Editors have the right to make purely editorial changes after the first correction of the proofs, for the uniformity of publication of the journal.

Authorship of the work

The authorship of the work must be clearly stated: all those who have made a significant contribution to the article, or sections of it, must appear as co-authors. A significant contribution given by other people to some phases of the research must also be explicitly recognized.

Conflict of interest

The Authors of the article must not have conflicts of interest that could have affected the results achieved or the interpretations proposed. The Authors must also indicate any funders of the research or project from which the article derives.

Remedy for inaccuracies in the article

In the Author identifies a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her articles, he/she must promptly inform the journal and provide all the necessary information to report the required corrections at the bottom or in the appendix of the article.

Duties of Referees

Contribution to the editorial decision

Peer-review is a process that helps the journal’s Editors to evaluate the articles proposed and also allows the Authors to improve their contribution.

Compliance with deadlines

The Referee who does not feel adequate to the requested assignment or who presumes not to be able to respond within the deadline is required to communicate it with urgency to the Editors of the journal.

Correctness and objectivity

The peer-review must be carried out correctly and objectively. Referees are invited to justify their evaluations on the article in an appropriate manner. Any personal judgment on the Author is inappropriate.

In case of indication of texts

The Referee is invited to accurately indicate the bibliographic details of relevant secondary source eventually neglected by the Author in the article. He/she must also report any similarities or overlaps of the text with other works known to him/her.

Conflict of interest and disclosure of information

Information or data obtained during the peer-review process must be considered strictly confidential: they cannot be used for one’s own interest. Referees are required not to accept for reading the articles for which a previous or ongoing conflict of interest had emerged due to specific collaborative or competitive relationships with the Author (unknown per se, but in any case identified by deduction) and/or with the relative institution of belonging.

 

Open Access

Aiep Editore adheres to the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) publishing every article immediately, without any embargo, in full-text pdf format without requiring any payment by the readers. Every article is distributed under the terms of Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License (CC-BY-4.0).

 

Licence and Copyright 

Author’s certification

By submitting their article, the authors certify that:

  • They are authorized by every co-authors to submit the article.
  • Their work is scientifically original in all its parts, it has not already been published in other journals or volumes and it is not in the process of being published in other journals except for expressed consent of the Editors.
  • They have secured the right to reproduce any material already published elsewhere.

Copyright

  • The copyright of any articles is retained by the author.
  • Authors grants «Afriche e Orienti» a licence to publish the articles.
  • All articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License (CC-BY)

 

Archiving and Repository Policies

Aiep Editore and «Afriche e Orienti» permit the deposit of articles in all their versions (preprint, accepted manuscript and published article) in any institutional or subject repository, without any embargo.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
