About the Journal

Aim and Scope

Afriche e Orienti is an international and interdisciplinary journal that publishes high-quality conceptual and empirical research in the social sciences and humanities about Africa and the Middle East. It is published twice per year in gold open access. Since 1999, Afriche e Orienti has published both special issues and individual articles in English, Italian and French. The journal encourages the submission of innovative contributions from established as well as early-career scholars. All articles submitted to  the journal undergo rigorous peer review.

Peer Review Process

Afriche e Orienti adopts a double-blind peer review process. Submissions are evaluated by the Editorial Board within four weeks; then, if the manuscript is suitable for publication, it is sent to two referees, who are asked to evaluate it within four weeks. The paper might be 1) accepted for publication; 2) accepted for publication with minor revisions; 3) accepted for publication with major revisions; 4) rejected. If the paper is accepted with revisions, the author is expected to submit the revised version within four weeks.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

Afriche e Orienti does not charge any fee for article submission, processing and publication.

Publication Frequency

Afriche e Orienti is published twice per year.
